| Schedule: | 7 classes on Saturdays: 5/19, 5/26; 6/2, 6/9, 6/16, 6/23, 6/30 Advanced group (USCF 1200+) lessons from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon. Intermediate group (USCF 800-1199) lessons from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Beginner/Advanced Beginner group (USCF 100-799) lessons from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM |

| Notes/Terms: | INSTRUCTOR: JON RIGAI DESCRIPTION: Want to improve your game? The National Scholastic Chess Foundation (NSCF) is offering small group lessons at our White Plains office. Advanced group lessons are especially for active tournament players rated 1200+ USCF. Over the course of 7 weeks of 120 minute classes, Jon will deal with positional and tactical concepts which are quite challenging (5 move combinations and up). The implementation of a chess engine and storing one's games in a database will be emphasized. In addition, Jon will be covering many master level games with an focus on improving the critical thinking process, and understanding how masters handle various positions. Intermediate group lessons are especially for active tournament players within the rating range of 800 - 1199 USCF. Over the course of 7 weeks of 90 minute classes, Jon will cover basic tactical pattern recognition and how to become a better all around player. Understanding how to reduce blunders in one's own game is critical for making the jump in rating and getting into the Championship section in chess tournaments. Beginner/Advanced Beginner group lessons are for aspiring tournament players within the rating range of 100 - 799 USCF. Over the course of 7 weeks of 90 minute classes, Jon will quickly review the basic rules of chess and the key tactics. Jon will cover how to develop our pieces and pawns properly to control the center, then focus on the basic checkmating patterns which will allow all students to be able to play a game of chess in a more competent manner.
