The Final Hybrid Stage will be played in person, with arbiter supervision at the Hyatt Regency Houston, Texas, from September 4-10, 2021. 

Players must provide their own laptop and camera for meeting the technical requirements of the event. It is not possible to play using a tablet or cellphone. You may provide your own chess set for use during the event which may be used subject to the regulations for hybrid tournaments. Only arbiters and players will be permitted into the playing area during play. Face coverings will be required at all times within the playing areas.

Players may only enter one section and must be eligible by age and gender. For each section, players must not have reached their 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th or 18th birthday respectively before January 1, 2021. Please use the following list for determining age eligibility:

  • Born in 2003 or later - eligible for Under 18
  • Born in 2005 or later - eligible for Under 16
  • Born in 2007 or later - eligible for Under 14
  • Born in 2009 or later - eligible for Under 12
  • Born in 2011 or later - eligible for Under 10
  • Born in 2013 or later - eligible for Under 8
  • Born in 2015 or later - eligible for Under 6

Registration deadline for all USA players is August 28, 2021. A current US Chess membership through the end of the tournament is required for all USA participants. You may renew your US Chess membership if necessary at https://new.uschess.org/become-member. A USA-flagged FIDE ID is required for all USA players. If you do not currently have a FIDE ID, please complete our FIDE ID Request Form at https://forms.gle/2J8rx4QoVsgw7PQx9.

Completion of this registration form constitutes acceptance to abide by all fair play procedures specified in the event regulations and the ability to meet any technical requirements. Any violation of the fair play regulations may lead to exclusion from all official FIDE chess tournaments, including over-the-board events for a period of up to 15 years as well as possible sanctions by US Chess.

Refund of the entry fee only ($100) will be provided for withdrawals received prior to August 29, 2021. No refunds will be provided for withdrawals received on August 29, 2021 or later. The additional event fee ($10) is always non-refundable.
