Advanced Beginner Class

Diplomat Chess is thrilled to bring our popular enrichment clubs online! This session is best suited for players that know the rules and can play a game of chess to completion, but are otherwise less experienced. Lessons will cover basic checkmating patterns, opening principles, and how to use and defend against Scholar's Mate.

This club will meet on four consecutive Saturday's from 9:00 - 10:15am, beginning 5/23 and ending on 6/13. The club will be limited to 12 students.

The sessions' format can be found below:

  1. A 20 minute interactive lesson conducted over Zoom and Lichess.org.
  2. Students will be paired up and play one G/10 (game with 10 minutes per side) against a fellow club member. 
  3. We will wrap-up each class with group analysis of all played games played. This is a great way to improve as we will be identifying students' in-game mistakes and missed opportunities.
  • Each component will take roughly 20-25 minutes, giving us an end time around 10:15am.
  • All club members will receive a complimentary three month membership to ChessKid.com
  • Following registration, Diplomat Chess will send the Zoom and ChessKid account information.
